Economists at the Seidman Research Institute at ASU estimate the average APS household will pay $1,900 more for electricity each year if Prop 127 passes. That’s over $150 in added costs each month.
Independent financial analysts agree. Evercore reviewed Prop 127 and wrote: “Passage of this ballot initiative would be a bad economic decision for the state of Arizona” and would have “a material upward impact on rates. This initiative, while seemingly well-intentioned, is not consumer friendly.”
Wolfe Research wrote of Prop 127: “If passed, (Pinnacle West) estimates that customer bills will double … this would all come at the expense of customers.”
